Sundial Gueshouse Kendal - Terms of access
Introduction:
We aim to cater for the needs of all Guests in our 6 bedroom Late Victorian Town House. The following access statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call or email us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival:

Our Telephone Number is 01539 724468. There is a bus stop 200 meters from the front entrance.
The nearest main line train station is Oxenholme The Lake District, it is on the west coast main line; it is a 5 to 6 minute taxi drive from us.
The nearest airport is Blackpool, approx 45-50 minutes drive from us.

Our Guest House is a Non Smoking establishment.
We are unable to accommodate any pets in our Guest House. We can provide Telephone No's of local kennels or catteries if required.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities :
Please note Check-In is normally after 4pm. Earlier arrival may, however, be possible by prior arrangement.
We are situated on the main A6 opposite the Kendal College on a raised banking with an access road directly outside our front entrance.
Guests may stop on the access road to drop off their luggage and or passengers. We will give directions to our car park, which is located at the rear of the guest house.
Our car park is marked into parking bays. It is a flat, level tarmac area. There is a doorway leading up the side of the house to the front door. The pathway is of block paving and sandstone flags and has a slight incline towards the front of the house.
At night both the pathway & car park have lighting activated by PIR sensors.
We can assist guests with luggage as required.
Main Entrance & Hallway :
There is only one 7" step at the front door leading to our porch.
The porch has a tiled floor area and leaflet displays on shelving.
The hallway is carpeted and approx 12"x 6" & 9"6' in height with 3 doors leading off it, one to the Breakfast room, one to Room 1 and one to our private home.
The Hallway is illuminated with a 3 bulb ceiling hung light fitting using low energy bulbs.
Dining Room :
The dinning room is approx 18"6'x 15" & 9"6' in height with a bay window to the front aspect of the house. The room itself is carpeted and illuminated by 2 wall lights & matching 6 bulb ceiling hung light fitting using low energy bulbs.
There are 3 circular tables each with 3 or 4 chairs & 1 rectangular table with 6 chairs. This is a flexible arrangement and can be moved to accommodate various group sizes as required. There is a semicircular table, on which will be a selection of cereals, fresh milk & orange juice, bowls & glasses. In addition to this there is a selection of leaflets and booklets with information on local events, attractions & timetables for buses & trains.
Every day the local weather forecast will be displayed on the door.
We have a high chair available when required.
Room 1 en-suite:
Room 1 is approx 12"6'x 11" & 9"6' in height with a large 2"8'x 6"9' window opposite the door. The en-suite contains a shower, toilet & wash basin, with a vinyl floor covering; this is located in the form of an "L" shape in the corner of the room, with a sliding lockable door.
The room itself is carpeted & contains a double bed with a bedside cabinet on each side. The room is illuminated by a ceiling hung fitting and 2 bedside lamps all containing low energy bulbs.
There is a built-in wardrobe & dressing table unit and a folding luggage rack.
There is an over sink light with shaver point within the en-suite.
There is an armchair with a spare folding seat in wardrobe.
Stairs to 1st Floor :
The stair case is carpeted with a hand rail on the left-hand side & is approx 2"6' wide, there are 11 steps to the intermediate landing on which there is a glass panelled fire door.
Three steps ahead take you to a fire exit door & Room 4's private bathroom
Turning left carry on up 8 steps to the first floor landing of approx 6"x 5" with two doors and a further flight of stairs.
Room 4 with Prive Bathroom :
Room 4 is approx 13"x 11" & 10" height with a large 6"x 4"5' window overlooking the courtyard, car park, with views towards the hills in the east.
The room itself is carpeted & contains both a double & a single bed separated by a bedside cabinet. The room is illuminated by a ceiling hung fitting and a bedside lamp all containing low energy bulbs.
There is a matching 2 door 7" mirrored wardrobe & dressing table.
In the corner of the room next to the window is a wash basin with light & shaver point. A wicker chair & a folding luggage rack are stored next to the wardrobe.
Private bathroom is located next to this room via the steps as described above.
Private Bathroom for Room 4:
The Bathroom is "L" shaped and is approx 5"4' x 3" and contains a shower cubicle and a toilet. The walls are tiled to the lower ½ & papered to the ceiling; the floor is covered with quarry tiles.
Room 5 en-suite:
Room 5 is approx 17"x 18" & 10" in height with a bay window to the front aspect of the house overlooking the Kendal Collage with views towards Kendal Golf Course.
The room itself is carpeted and contains a double bed with 2 bedside cabinets, a single bed, and a set of pine bunk beds. The room is illuminated by a 5 bulb ceiling hung light fitting and 2 bedside lamps all containing low energy bulbs.
There is a pine wardrobe, a folding chair is stored next to a wicker chair, and a seating area has been created in the bay window.
There is also a folding travel cot, and folding cot side available for use when required.
The en-suite room is contained within the room approx 6"4'x 5"2', the walls are all tiled whilst the floor covering is vinyl. There is a wash basin with under sink storage rack, shower cubicle & toilet.
There is an over sink light with shaver point within the en-suite.
Stairs to 2nd Floor :
The stair case is carpeted with a hand rail on the left-hand side & is approx 2"6' wide, there are 10 steps to the intermediate landing with a large 3"6' square window then turning left a further 9 steps to the 2nd floor landing on which there is a sliding glass panelled screen & fire door.
The landing is approx 12"x 4" with 5 doors leading to Rooms 6, 7, 8 the Shared Bathroom & a Fire Exit.
Room 6 (Twin with Shared Bathroom):
Room 6 is approx 11"6'x 10"6' & 8" in height with a large window 5"x 4"1' overlooking the car park with extensive views of the hills to the east and the village of Natland to the SE.
The room itself is carpeted and contains a 2 single beds separated by a bedside cabinets. The room is illuminated by a ceiling hung light fitting and a bedside lamp all containing low energy bulbs.
In the corner of the room next to the window is a wash basin with an over sink light & shaver point. Two folding chairs are stored behind the door.
There is a matching 2 door wardrobe & dressing table.
Room 7 (Single with Shared Bathroom) :
Room 7 is approx 8"8'x 9" & 8" in height with a large window 3"x 5" overlooking the Kendal College with views towards Kendal Golf Course.
The room itself is carpeted and contains a single bed with a bedside cabinet with matching wardrobe.
The room is illuminated by a ceiling hung light fitting and a bedside lamp all containing low energy bulbs.
In the corner of the room next to the window is a wash basin with an over sink light & shaver point.
There is a matching 2 door wardrobe & a folding chair.
Room 8 (Single with Shared Bathroom) :
Room 8 is approx 13"1'x7"4" & 8" in height with a large window 3"x 4" overlooking the Kendal Collage with views towards Kendal Golf Course.
The room itself is carpeted and contains a single bed with a bedside cabinet.
The room is illuminated by a ceiling hung light fitting and a bedside lamp all containing low energy bulbs.
In the corner of the room next to the window is a wash basin with an over sink light & shaver point.
There is a matching 2 door wardrobe, 2 chests of drawers & a wicker chair.
General Information:
All rooms contain a TV, Alarm Clock, Hairdryer, Tea & Coffee making facilities & Guest Information Folder.
The whole house is centrally heated.
All rooms have heat/smoke detectors & are linked to the fire alarm system.
All stairs and corridors have Fire Call Points, Fire Extinguishers & Emergency Lighting. The location of these items along with evacuation instructions are on display in each of the bedrooms.
We offer free Wi-Fi internet access.
We have a lockable garage for safe & secure storage of bikes, with tyre pumps and puncture repair kits.
We have a drying area for walking equipment or cycling kit
